How to find York Distillery
York Distillery is set in the grounds of Middleton's Hotel on Skeldergate, in the heart of York — a short walk from Clifford's Tower, Skeldergate Bridge and the city centre. The entrance is not the main hotel entrance; follow the directions below to find us.

From York station
Approx. 15–20 min walk. Head south through Micklegate Bar, follow Micklegate and then Skeldergate.
Parking
Middleton's Hotel guests park on site (and receive a discount on experiences). Public car parks at St George's Field and Nunnery Lane are both around 5 min walk.

Open daily. Pre-booking advised for all experiences.
Getting here
On foot from York Station (~15–20 min)
Head south through Micklegate Bar (the medieval city gate) and follow Micklegate south. Continue down into Skeldergate towards the river. York Distillery is on your left before you reach Skeldergate Bridge — look for the small raised-bed garden. Walking is the easiest option from most of York city centre.
On foot from the city centre (~5–10 min)
From Clifford's Tower, walk down Tower Street, cross the bridge over the river, down the steps and join Skeldergate. We are a few minutes along on the left, set back from the road in the grounds of Middleton's Hotel. Look for the small raised-bed garden — that is our entrance.
By car
Sat-nav postcode: YO1 6DS. On-site parking is available for guests of Middleton's Hotel, who also receive a discount on experiences. If you have accessibility requirements and need to park on site, please mention this when booking. The nearest public car parks are St George's Field and Nunnery Lane, both around 5 min walk.
Once you are on Skeldergate — finding the entrance
- Walk along Skeldergate. Do not use the main entrance to Middleton's Hotel.
- Look for the small raised-bed garden on Skeldergate — this is shared with Emperor's Gym and is the entrance to our part of the building.
- Go through the garden and turn immediately to your left.
- We are just down the steps. You have arrived at York Distillery.
