What to expect each month
Each session Emma explores a different wine theme, taking you through six premium wines with tasting notes, stories and the kind of practical knowledge you will actually remember and use. It is a chance to try wines you would not normally pick up, ask questions without feeling silly and meet like-minded people over a great glass of wine.

York Distillery Wine Tasting Club sessions are relaxed, social and genuinely good fun. Held monthly on Thursday evenings in our speakeasy-style room on Skeldergate, each session has a different theme and a different selection of wines, so there is always something new to discover.
Emma keeps things informal and accessible throughout. You will taste six premium wines, enjoy nibbles and leave with a better understanding of what is in your glass — without any of the snobbery.

Emma Moore is a WSET-qualified wine and beer expert, a qualified beer sommelier and a gin expert, with a genuine talent for making drinks education enjoyable. She runs a mobile wine bar and tasting business and shares her knowledge to thousands of followers on Instagram and TikTok (@wineladyemma).

Can I use a gift card to pay?
Yes. Our gift cards are cash equivalent and can be used to pay for any event at York Distillery, including the wine club. Available via our gift certificates page.
Is the wine club strictly for over 18s?
Yes, the wine club is strictly for guests aged 18 and over.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes, we are dog-friendly. Well-behaved dogs on leads are very welcome at York Distillery.
What are the nibbles? Any dietary information?
York Distillery is a nut-free venue. The nibbles served during the session are all vegan and some are gluten-free. Please advise us of any other dietary requirements when booking.
Is there parking at York Distillery?
On-site parking is available for guests of Middleton's Hotel. The nearest public car parks are Nunnery Lane and St George's Field, both around five minutes on foot. We are right in the heart of York so walking or public transport is recommended. If you have accessibility requirements and need to park on site, please mention this when booking.
Is York Distillery affected by flooding?
We are close to the River Ouse, and York has flooded since mediaeval times. York Distillery itself does not flood, and if there were ever any concern about a session going ahead we would contact you in advance. York and its residents are very used to it.
Is the venue accessible for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately our venue has steps and is not fully accessible for all visitors. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please mention this when booking and we will do our best to help.

How to find York Distillery
York Distillery is located in the grounds of Middleton's Hotel on Skeldergate, in its own building next to the hotel gym. The entrance for visitors is on Skeldergate itself. We are right in the heart of York, a short walk from Clifford's Tower, the River Ouse and the city centre, which makes us easy to reach on foot from most parts of the city.
